Accessibility

Accessibility means obtaining access to information without any restrictions due to disability, impairment or handicap.
Many people access information on the Internet in contexts very different from our own, because:

  • They may have hearing, sight or mobility difficulties.
  • They may have reading or understanding difficulties.
  • They may not be able to use a keyboard or mouse.
  • They may have a text-only reader, a small screen, a slow connection, etc.

These groups make up 10-20% of the population and using the Internet can be difficult or even impossible for them.
Tools and devices have therefore been created for these people (voice browsers or screen magnifiers, for example), which adapt the computer to their way of working, and the content must therefore be structured so that they can handle it.

Standards

Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) has been used to define the structure of the documents, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) have been used for the graphic arrangement and presentation of the different elements. All the pages have been validated as XHTML 1.1 Transitional, and CSS 2.0.

Fast Access Keys

One of the active accessibility options on this website are fast access keys.
The use and activation of specific keypad shortcuts depends on the user’s browser or agent. The most common ones involve the following key combinations:

  • Internet Explorer: ALT + key + ENTER
  • Netscape: ALT + key
  • Mozilla: ALT + SHIFT + key
  • Opera: SHIFT + ESC + key
  • (On Macintosh computers, the CTRL key is used instead of the ALT key).

All access key links are indicated visually by an underlined link:

  • 0: Top of page
  • 1: Go directly to content
  • 2: End of page
  • P: Products
  • S: Services
  • M: Resources
  • L: Location
  • C: Queries

Pictures

All the pictures contain a brief description using the "alt" attribute. Those requiring a longer description use the "longdesc" attribute.

Visual design

This website uses layers and cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual formatting of the information. The content has been separated from the presentation to ensure access and correct viewing of the information in different environments.

Relative font sizes have been used for the website’s main content, user-configurable via the browser text options. We have confirmed that this site can be viewed correctly in the different versions of the main browsers (Internet Explorer 6 and above, Mozilla, Opera), platforms, equipment and configurations.
